Up of Randy Wheelock
I am incredibly shy. As my daughter likes to
say about herself, "People are amazed at how shy I am!"
In high school I was very sensitive and shy, and didn’t
understand why I had to attend Saturday school so often. Students
were given demerits for terrible deeds. Five demerits and
you had to attend "Jug", or Saturday school. I had
to attend every Saturday. All of my demerits were for talking
in class and interrupting the teacher. That was a very traumatic
thing to have happen to someone as shy as me.
When I landed in Idaho Springs
in 1971 on the way to Aspen, my $125 Ford LTD, despite its
white leather bucket seats, dropped the last of its transmission
fluid in the street. All I had left was $100 and the sound
of my Okie relatives' laughter ringing in my ears. They were
sure I'd be back within a week, my tail between my legs. I
showed them. I didn't have a car to get back home. Hah!!
I started stalking the little red
haired girl at the high school. After a few years, her parents
finally gave up and started feeding me. That's her in the
picture. Her name is Eileen. We now have two daughters, a
grandson and some dogs and stuff.
We all want stuff. We just have to figure out
how to fit all of it and ourselves onto this planet without
falling off, and leave room for our great, great, really great
grandchildren to fit, too.
Every other Saturday at 2:00 PM we’ll
try to figure out how on...
Neighborhood:
Earth - We'll learn how to treat the planet
as though we intend to stay..
